C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram (formerly ER&DCI), is a pioneer in application oriented research, design, development and Technology Transfer in the areas of Electronics and Information Technology. Over the years, the Centre has acquired high competency, expertise and experience in Control & Instrumentation, Networking, Broadcast & Communications, Power Electronics, VLSI/ ASIC Design and Underwater Electronics, with extensive design and deployment of software meta-resources for the projects. The Software Training and Development Centre (STDC) focuses on creating high quality manpower in advanced software domains by imparting high-level training on IBM Mainframe, Client Server computing, Networking, Database Technology, Embedded Systems, VLSI design and other advanced topics of Information Technology, forging ahead strong training partnerships with Red Hat Linux. STDC also offers various short term courses in Information Technology through its ACETC(Authorized Computer Education and Training Centres)s across India.
Software Training and Development Centre, a major division of C-DAC (formerly ER&DCI) has been in the forefront of Training since 1992. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, CDAC with the merger of four societies (ER&DCI, CEDT, NCST, C-DAC) has emerged as a super player in Information Technology (IT) industry, nationally and internationally.
Research and Development (R&D), Education and Training are the two major areas of focus which have resulted in development of quality products such as high computing facility open source software, multilingual tools, training courses etc. C-DAC has grown in strength with Resource Persons and Resource Centres located at its Centres. With these resources networked, the Centre is advancing in development of technologies and building of InfoTech Skills at the speed of innovation.
The high-end-courses offered includes Diploma in Embedded Systems Design in addition to the specialized courses on IBM Mainframe, Web Technology, Database Technology, Internet Technology, etc. The specialized Courses on IBM Mainframe offered by the Centre have provided employment to most of successful candidates.
